Reset the positions of windows to see the invisible windows on the screen
The issue
My issues started after using two screens, and working with QlikView on both screens. Windows that normally appeared on screen did no longer appear on the screen and I could not continue with what I was doing...
First, the 'Script Execution Progress' pop-up window did not appear on the screen after clicking on the reload button. I knew something did happen after clicking the button, because I could not click anywhere on the main QlikView window. After clicking on the Windows key and the left/right arrow keys, the window appeared back on screen. So, it seemed that the window remembered it's old position on the second screen and thus was not shown when I only used one screen.
The second time, I tried to rename a tab in the 'Edit Script' screen, but couldn't see the window that normally opens. Using the Windows key and the arrows didn't work this time. When I clicked the Escape key, I could again use QlikView. Also, when I entered something randomly after clicking 'rename' (via 'Tab' in the menu bar), I saw that the tab was renamed after clicking enter. So, the rename window again was opened off the screen. I had to find a solution for this annoying behaviour.
The solution is to reset the positions of the windows in the settings file (Settings.ini
).
